At home between treatment courses: what matters

Time at home is recovery time. Simple rules help you get through it more calmly.

Short answer

Between courses, the main things are following the doctor's recommendations, protecting against infections when immunity is low, and keeping normal life: games, contact, routine. Normal life is treatment too.

What you can do

  1. Keep a diary: temperature, wellbeing, medicines, questions for the doctor.
  2. Know when to call the doctor urgently (often a fever above 38°C / 100.4°F) — confirm with your treating team.
  3. Follow hygiene guidance and restrictions during low blood counts.
  4. Preserve 'normality': favorite games, shows, contact with loved ones when possible.
  5. Let your child be a child — play, be silly, be cranky, like everyone.
Important:Safety rules between courses are individual and depend on treatment — always confirm with the treating physician.
