Where to get free early intervention

For children under 3 with developmental differences, free public and charity programs exist.

Short answer

Early intervention means activities and consultations for the youngest children and their parents. The earlier it starts, the better the results. Public early intervention services are usually free, and Down syndrome organizations advise families remotely too.

What you can do

  1. Find the early intervention service in your area.
  2. Contact a Down syndrome organization — many consult online for free.
  3. Ask your pediatrician about referrals to covered rehabilitation programs.
  4. Book a speech-language specialist at 18–24 months — don't wait 'until they talk'.
