How to choose a specialist and not waste money
Offers are many, promises are loud. How do you tell real help from a money drain?
Short answer
A good specialist never promises to 'cure autism'. They set small, clear goals, explain what they do and why, and teach you — not just your child. Proven approaches are based on research, not miracle cures.
What you can do
- Be wary if someone promises fast, complete 'results' or demands a long prepaid course.
- Ask what the goals are and when you should see an effect — the answer should be concrete.
- Ask them to show you how to repeat the techniques at home — a good specialist won't mind.
- Compare 2–3 options before paying; charities and public services often consult for free.
- Don't abandon prescribed medical follow-up in favor of alternative methods.
